Hear:
Radio Open Source went out over NPR and discussed with Hamlet Au, Cristiano Midnight, and Chip Poutine. Great frank discussions about issues that often media ignores - sex, relationships, gender-bending, even furries!
See:
Aimee Weber, winged SL builder extraordinaire, teamed up with Exploratorium to create a showroom and cool science display for the 2006 solar eclipse that is happening ... well, about 6 hours from posting this. I saw the getup in the Fame sim, and loved the giant space chamber that was built. If you can be up at 2am PST, you should definitely go!

See and Hear Some Neat Things
Webcammy Goodness
It would behoove Linden Lab to go and hire one of the Logitech software engineers responsible for making this possible.
Oh, did we mention it's a $100 webcam that comes with the software? Imagine image mapping from a $100 webcam directly to your avatar to do real facial expressions. That's right out of Snow Crash.
Due to Linden Lab's meticulous hiring policy and overload of work, I predict 2 MMOs will implement this before Second Life.

Developing the Developers
It came to me earlier this year, as I was starting out doing my business full-time in Second Life, that there are some basic questions whose answers are not readily available. These questions are developer-centric, and include stuff like:
- What is an appropriate amount of money to charge clients?
- Who are the developers out there working in SL and what are they doing?
- How does Linden Lab pass on opportunities it gets from outside companies looking for content development in SL?
- What are the biggest obstacles that developers face in making new, exciting content in SL?
In an effort to answer these questions, I spoke with a whole lot of people serious about developing in SL, and I held a developer's meeting. The result:
SLdevelopers.com
We now have an online resource for developers in SL. There are forums, a wiki, file-hosting areas, blogging tools, links to other resources, and a whole lot of potential.
The goal is to get developers talking, answering these questions. But even more than that - the goal is to create a resource that will assist developers, and accelerate the development of the Metaverse through its content creation.
